3D scanning is the process of capturing the exact geometry of a physical object as a digital 3D model. Our primary scanner is the Shining 3D EinScan HX2 — a hybrid blue-laser and blue-LED system with up to 0.04 mm single-shot laser accuracy. Real-world (volumetric) accuracy scales with part size: 0.04 + 0.06 mm/m in laser mode. A 0.3 m part measures to roughly 0.06 mm; a 1 m part to about 0.10 mm. For very large objects we combine scanning with photogrammetry.

3D scanning captures the exact geometry of a physical object as a digital 3D model.
