3D Scanning
3D Scanning — FAQ
What is 3D scanning and how accurate is it?+
3D scanning captures the exact geometry of a physical object as a digital 3D model. Accuracy depends on the equipment — up to 0.04 mm on the EinScan HX2 laser scan (0.05 mm on its rapid LED mode), down to ±0.5mm with photogrammetry for large objects. We'll recommend the right tool for your accuracy budget.
What file formats do you deliver?+
We deliver STL files ready for 3D printing. STEP and IGES are available on request for engineering clients — just let us know what your manufacturing process needs.
How long does a typical scan take?+
Small parts (under 30cm): 30 minutes to 2 hours. Larger parts or on-site work: half-day to multi-day. Rush turnaround starts from 72 hours; standard delivery timelines vary by project complexity.
Can you scan on-site at my location?+
Yes. We have portable laser and structured-light scanners. We've done on-site scans at factories, heritage sites, hotels, and studios across the UAE.
Is my data confidential?+
Yes. We sign NDAs as standard for commercial and heritage work. All scans are stored on encrypted drives and deleted after project delivery unless you ask us to archive them.
Reverse Engineering
Reverse Engineering — FAQ
What is reverse engineering?+
Reverse engineering is the process of taking a physical object and creating a complete digital 3D model of it. We scan the part with high-accuracy equipment, then our engineers rebuild it as a clean, parametric CAD model in SolidWorks or Fusion 360.
When should I use reverse engineering vs designing from scratch?+
If you have a physical reference part, RE is usually faster and cheaper. If you only have a concept, design from scratch. RE shines when drawings are lost, parts are obsolete, or you need to modify an existing design.
What file formats do I get?+
STEP, IGES, SAT, X_T, STL, and native SolidWorks or Fusion 360 files. We deliver in whatever format your manufacturing process requires.
What accuracy can you achieve?+
Up to 0.04 mm with our Shining 3D EinScan HX2 laser scan (0.05 mm on its rapid LED mode). We'll recommend the right scanning tool for your accuracy budget and part geometry.
Is reverse engineering legal?+
Yes, RE is legal in the UAE for legitimate purposes: replacement parts, design improvement, quality control, and digital archiving. We sign NDAs and do NOT reverse engineer trademarked products for counterfeiting.
How long does a typical RE project take?+
Physical part to CAD-ready file typically takes 3-10 days: small parts (under 30cm) around 3-5 days, medium assemblies 5-7 days, and large or complex machinery 7-10 days. Rush service is available for an upcharge. (Downstream manufacturing, if required, is quoted and scheduled separately.)
3D Printing
3D Printing — FAQ
What file format should I send?+
STL is the most common, but we also accept STEP, OBJ, 3MF, and native SolidWorks/Fusion 360 files. If you only have a physical part, we can 3D scan it first and then print from the scan.
What is the maximum print size?+
Large Format SLA: up to 600×600×600mm (architectural models and enclosures). FDM: up to 300×300×300mm. SLS Nylon: up to 300×300×300mm (confirmation pending). SLA Metal: up to 300×300×300mm (confirmation pending). Larger parts can be printed in sections and assembled.
How much does 3D printing cost?+
Pricing depends on volume, material, technology, and quantity. We quote within 2 hours of receiving your file. Most small FDM parts start from AED 50-150.
Can you match a specific material property?+
Yes. We stock 30+ materials including flexible TPU, heat-resistant ABS, carbon-fiber blends, food-safe PETG, and biocompatible resins. Tell us your requirements and we'll match.
Do you offer finishing services?+
Yes. We offer support removal, sanding, gap filling, priming, painting, vapor smoothing (for ABS), and assembly. Finishing is quoted separately based on complexity.
Mechanical 3D Modeling
Mechanical 3D Modeling — FAQ
Which CAD software do you use?+
We work in SolidWorks and Autodesk Fusion 360. We deliver native files in your preferred format, plus STEP and IGES for compatibility with any CAD system.
Can you work from my sketches or ideas?+
Absolutely. We work from hand sketches, 2D drawings, reference photos, or verbal descriptions. The more detail you provide, the faster we can deliver the right design.
Do you include tolerances?+
Yes. All our manufacturing-ready models include appropriate dimensional tolerances. We tailor the tolerance scheme to your manufacturing method so your machinist or fabricator can work from the files directly.
Can you run simulations on the models?+
Yes, we can perform basic FEA (finite element analysis), motion studies, and thermal analysis in SolidWorks Simulation or Fusion 360. For advanced CFD or nonlinear analysis, we partner with specialized engineering firms.
Do you sign NDAs for design work?+
Yes, NDAs are standard. Your intellectual property is protected. We never share client designs, and all files are stored on encrypted drives with access control.
Replacement Parts
Replacement Parts — FAQ
Can you make a replacement from a broken part?+
Yes. We frequently work with damaged, worn, or partially missing parts. Our engineers reconstruct missing features in CAD based on the part's function, mating surfaces, and symmetry. If you have the mating part or a photo of the original, that helps too.
What materials can you use?+
We work with engineering plastics (ABS, PETG, nylon, PEEK), metals (aluminum, steel, stainless, brass, bronze), and composites. We'll match the original material or recommend an upgrade based on your application.
Is this cheaper than buying from the OEM?+
Usually yes, especially for obsolete parts or parts with high OEM markups. On average our clients save 60% compared to OEM replacement pricing, and we deliver much faster. We'll give you a transparent quote before starting.
Can you produce parts in bulk?+
Yes. We can produce anywhere from a single replacement to 500+ units. For larger quantities, we use CNC machining or casting for cost efficiency. For smaller runs or complex geometries, 3D printing is often more economical.
Do you guarantee fit and function?+
We guarantee dimensional accuracy to the agreed tolerance. We recommend a validation prototype (3D printed) before final manufacturing for critical applications. If the final part doesn't fit due to our error, we'll remake it at no cost.
Creative 3D Art
Creative 3D Art — FAQ
How big can you print?+
Our large-format SLA printer has a 600×600×600mm build volume, with FDM up to 300×300×300mm. For pieces larger than that, we print in modular sections and assemble them seamlessly. We've created installations up to 4 meters using this approach.
Can you match a specific finish or material?+
Yes. We offer 15+ finishes including bronze patina, gold leaf, automotive-grade paint, powder coating, vapor smoothing, and hand-painted textures. We'll create samples for your approval before finishing the final piece.
Do you work with artists' existing designs?+
Absolutely. We can take your 3D model, digital sculpt, or even a physical maquette (which we'll 3D scan), scale it, and produce the final piece. We respect your creative vision — we're the fabrication partner, not the designer (unless you want us to design too).
Can you produce limited editions?+
Yes. Once we have the digital model, we can produce any number of identical pieces on demand. This is perfect for limited edition art series — the artist retains the digital file and we produce pieces as needed.
How do you price creative projects?+
Creative projects are quoted individually based on design complexity, size, material, finish, and quantity. Design work (if needed) is quoted separately from fabrication. We provide a detailed quote after the initial concept brief.
